How do I get rid of Fleas in my home and pets?

I moved a few months ago into a major flea infestation. I have sprayed (got this stuff at petsmart) and put out granules in the yard. I have not found anymore jumping on me. But now my dog and cat have them. They are indoor/outdoor pets. I use Frontline every month, but it is not touching the fleas. I tried the Advantage, but it did not touch the fleas either. Plus we live in the woods and I need the Frontline for ticks. I have started spraying them with flea spray a few times a week also. I even went to the vet and bought some capstar. Nothing seems to work!
Now I have them in the house. I have set off bombs today, but I am at a lose as to how to try to control the fleas!!!

Are you using Frontline PLUS? If you're in FL or that area I guess there is another product that works much better. Common down there, but I never heard of it up this way.

Look into getting diatomaceous earth (DE) (food, NOT pool grade) and using it around the baseboards.

set up a bowl of soapy water under a night light near the floor if your pets won't get into it.

for now add a bit of garlic in with your dog's food to keep the fleas from biting.

Vacuum several times per day. Buy a flea collar or two (different types,) cut it up, and place the pieces IN the vacuum. (In the bag if you have a bagged, in the canister if you have a bagless.)

Go to petoftheday . com's message boards and look up OLD topics on the subject. Lots of good tips.

Best regards and good luck!!!

(P.S. the sprays and bombs are next to useless. So is plain Frontline.)

Also, almost forgot. The Frontline (and FLP) don't work that well if applied with in a week of giving your dog a bath or if your dog gets wet with in two days of putting it on. Despite the instructions on the box we have always put half on the shoulder blades, and half near the rump. Always had great luck. (Usually we only need to apply the FLP only every other month, but then we don't live in the woods either.)
