How can i tell if my dog has joint pain?

Well I have a golden retriever, and shes about 6 years old now tee-hee :]. And i love her soooo much lol ^_^. Well i just want to know signs because it takes her a long time to get up, when shes laying down…And shes slightly over weight :]…Ok ok..She IS overweight haha about 100lbs. I mean is…is there signs if she has pains?…Or should we just take her to the vet?

Well, the first thing to do is get.that extra weight off her . If she loses the weight she will find it a lot easier to get up.

I have just had to get some weight off my 9 yr old female and I did it by reducing her daily intake by one third. She weighed 80 lbs which I considered to be far too much. An adult female should weigh no more than 72 lbs. After two weeks she had lost 5 lbs. and now after 1 month her weight has come down to 74 lbs. so it can be done with a little perseverance.

Try and give her more exercise if you can, even if it is just throwing a ball or a frizbee for her to fetch,.A few minutes a day is all she needs right now and you can gradually build up the exercise as she begins to lose the weight.

She shouldn’t be experiencing pain in her joints at her age
but carrying all that extra weight will definitely take its toll on her joints and her heart if you don’t do something about it asap.

Good luck with her.
