I use Frontline plus.It is the best EXPENSIVE but well worth it. Know fleas or ticks on my doggies! If it is real hot I spray with Hartz to keep Skeeters and all bugs away about once a week.I also use Hartz flea collars they smell like baby powder.I live in GA in the woods so I have to be careful.
References :
Wow! I am actually glad I saw this, I too have found a few ticks on my dog and we use ProMeris. I have been annoyed with it too but didn't find many other people with the same problem. The vet claimed that it only kills the tick if they bite the dog if they are treated with ProMeris (and what good does that really do when the ticks don't die if they don't bite the dog and still pose a threat to people). I will switch to FrontLine at next vet visit. Thanks!
References :
I've heard nothing but bad stories from ProMeris users. Frontline doesn't seem to work on my dogs so I just use Advantage. I know its suppose to be a monthly thing but it lasts longer than that so I only use it once every 2 months on them.
References :
My feeling is that I am sticking with what has been working - Frontline Plus - until it does not work. And I'd rather not start with Promeris until it has more track record. Advantix is also an excellent choice and been on the market for awhile. That would be my second choice.

Sounds like the pharmaceutical rep really worked on your vet to push the new product.
