K9 Advantix or Frontline ?

So if you own a dog chances are you have made the mistake and bought the cheap stuff from the pet store just to go camping and find a flea or tick let alone just being outside with misqitos, what does everyone think about the two big names in Flea meds ?
other than the fact that your basicly puting a Nerotoxin on you dogs spine
But its not like anything else works as good or even close to as good. At least that I have come across.

I use Frontline, have done for a few years now and not had a flea or tick problem since.
I had tried all the store bought ones, what a waste of money!

My dog had fleas at the time when we recieved frontline, and they we're gone the next day.

Frontline did not work for my dog, much like not all medications work on people. Advantix works wonders on my dog, however, we don't have ticks problems up here in the PNW.

I have bought the cheap stuff at the store… What a disappointment.

we use frontline plus- we basically decided on that one because it was the one that was safe to be used on pregnant dogs. My theory is - heck sometimes even with people things- that if it is safe enough to be used when pregnant, then should be safe when not…

I live out in the country so you can basically walk outside onto the porch and get a tick, so we have all 3 of my dogs (2 Labs and 1 Chihuahua, pretty active dogs) on Frontline and have had no problems, they can have fleas one day and then the next day they're all gone. So I would definitely go with Frontline.

My dogs vomit and act sick after using anything that is liquid going on their back. I use Sentinel.

I alternate Advantix and Frontline hoping that the fleas won't develop immunity. I don't see what choice there is to using them, fleas and ticks are so irritating to the dog and flea collars don't work.

my vet recommended advantage multi. besides fleas, ticks, mosquitos it has the heartworm medicine in it too.
used it for 17 months now and never found anything on papillon.
the only thing my groomer told me is to wait 2-3 days after a bath when applying. as the oils in the skin need to come back.

I have a cat, which I realise is not the same as a dog. But I'm thinking that as far as medicines is concerned, things might be fairly similar. For our cat I use Program, which is also available for dogs. It used to be readily available at vets, but not anymore. Frontline seems to be the flavour of the months these days. However, most vets can order it in. I have my doubts about just putting a dab of some cream or fluid on one spot of the animal's fur, as with Frontline. So I use the Program ampuls which you can either mix through the food, but as our car doesn't want to eat it then, I just grip the cat firmly, open his mouth and squeeze the stuff into the back of his throat. I have found that not only does he have no fleas, but any fleas in the house and the eggs are dead too. It really is great stuff.

I've never had a problem with fleas, but more with ticks. My experience has been that Frontline does not work as well as the K9 Avantix for ticks.

In fact, I had stopped using the frontline because I would be pulling ticks of my dogs and had called the company to complain. So before K9 Advantix came out, I just sprayed them with Zodiak Flea & Tick. I had more success with Zodiak than the Frontline. I've had no ticks with the K9 Advantix.

My vet told me that alot of studies have come out the those older flea medicines have been wearing off earlier than 4 weeks.

What i really mean is fleas are becoming amune to the medicatinon.

They have new stuff called promeris and it works great I use it on all three of my bulldog puppies! im pretty sure you cn only get it at the vet though.
