why is it good to put a dog down in pain, but bad to help a terminally ill person die?
Like Jack Kevorkian helped sick people with cancer go to sleep just like a sick dog, so why did he go to jail for it?

I believe that as a human you should have the right to choose when the time comes and life becomes unbearable due to a debilitating disease.
Few countries in the world are progressive enough to allow people to have the right to die as they please.
As far as dogs, well, they should be put down when they are suffering and we, as their owners should be able to make that decision for them. Hope I helped!!

It is something to think about. But I think it's because humans are the masters of dogs, and God is the master of humans. That would be my guess.

I don't think euthinasia is wrong. People are just worried that doctors and family members will abuse an individual's human rights.

because we as humans, have free will while animals don't. we are put here to rule over them so we must make the decisions for them.

Animal life and human life are two different things. Humans do not have stewardship over other human lives but we do have the responsibility to care for animals and make choices for them. Ending an animals life is completely different from ending a human life.
I am not saying what is right or wrong here, that is a personal issue, what I am saying is that a human life is not equal to an animal life. You can't compare the two at all.

i believe if both dogs and human are struggling with life the should be put out of there misery. Neither one should struggle anymore. it is a tough decision either way.

How can you draw a fair comparison between the laws that govern humans and those that govern dogs? The euthanasia argument in light of putting your dog down isn't relevant in my opinion. Dogs are NOT people. I have a dog who I love, but she is not a person. I don't expect for her to be given the right to bear arms, or free speech, or the right to vote…..
Interesting question though.

Because people bring God into the debate over 'Right to Die' issues. People supposedly have souls, where animals supposedly do not.
As a former Veterinary Technician, I helped euthanize many animals in pain. I always felt it was the last, greatest gift we could give a pet in pain - a release from suffering.
I feel the same way about people, too. When a person is in unbearable pain, what justification is there in making that person suffer?
It is true, that we must be aware that it is a slippery slope when deciding when to do human euthanasia. Who decides when to euthanize? And how to determine how much pain a person is in? One person's unbearable pain, may be bearable to someone else. Who decides?
If my mother was in agonizing pain, I could euthanize her myself in a heartbeat, because I would KNOW in my heart, that I was doing the most humane thing I could to end her suffering.
Why is it humane to euthanize animals, but INhumane to euthanize people?

It is only considered "bad" because of the present social mores. I think hospice now has become more popular because although it doesn't offend by actually ending life, it allows the dying to be medicated enough so they can pass without pain, but with my mom it was still hard watching her unconsicious for one week, just waiting for her to die. I couldn't of done it to her because she was Catholic and wouldn't of wanted that. But my children know that I want them to end my suffering, maybe it will be legal by then.
