Once it dries, it's fine. This product is pretty good. Works as well as others that are given by a Vet.
The source for the first question should be on the enclosed material or the box .

You can pet your dog immediately after applying the solution, just leave the wet area alone. When you can no longer see evidence of the solution (even after it's dried) you can pet without worry. Basically you just don't want to rub any of the medication off.
Advantage is a good product, but keep in mind if your dog is, or becomes, allergic to flea bites, it will have to be applied every 3 weeks instead of 4. Advantage starts losing it's efficacy in the 3rd week, and your dog will suffer reaction to the bites. Frontline is tested and approved 100% for 4 weeks, but either product works just fine.

You can pet your dog immediately after applying it.The only place that it is applied is to the back of the neck and down the spin towards the tail. It's fine for you to pet your dog everywhere else. Good Luck
